26-man roster features 11 pitchers and 15 position players

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today set their 26-man roster for the National League Wild Card Series, presented by AbbVie, against the Philadelphia Phillies. The best-of-three series begins with Game 1 today at 2:15 p.m. ET at Truist Park. The roster features 11 pitchers and 15 position players – two catchers, eight infielders and five outfielders.
Fifteen of the 26 players on Atlanta’s roster have previous postseason experience, including five former World Series champions. Reliever Dylan Lee and infielders Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley remain from Atlanta’s title-winning team in 2021, while Mauricio Dubón won the championship with Houston the following season. Left-hander Chris Sale, who will start Game 1 for Atlanta, recorded the final out of the 2018 World Series to clinch the title for Boston.
Albies has the most postseason experience among position players on the Braves’ roster, while Sale leads all pitchers on the staff with 10 career playoff appearances and seven starts. Albies has made 43 career postseason starts, all with Atlanta, and is a .250 (42-for-169) batter with 24 total runs scored and 56 total bases in October. Sale has struck out 47 batters across just 34.0 career playoff innings, and is making his postseason debut with Atlanta in his third season with the club.
Two players are on the roster who did not close the regular season with the club. Atlanta today selected INFs Rowdy Tellez and Luke Williams to the major league roster, and designated RHPs Elieser Hernández and Ricky Vanasco for assignment.
The entire Wild Card Series will be played at Truist Park in Atlanta, with Game 2 set for 2:15 p.m. ET tomorrow, September 30. If needed, Game 3 will be played at a yet-to-be-determined time on Thursday, October 1.
