The State Summer Games are upon us this weekend at Emory University, and we get the skinny from Georgia Milton-Sheats on what to expect and what it takes to make this incredible event happen.
We will have thousands of people at opening. It will be outdoor, knock on wood, no rain, at McDonough Field, at Emory University. We have nine sports that we are offering at the state summer games this coming weekend. And we will have soccer, soccer skills, flag football, swimming, volleyball, tennis, indoor and out. We’ll have table tennis, we’ll be serving meals. We’re going to have an Olympic town. We’ll have track and field. We’ll also have a big opening celebration followed by an athlete dance on Friday night and activities all day Saturday. And the Olympic town will be all day Saturday. We have shuttles that are going all around the campus and the athletes and coaches will be housed in a dorm on the campus.
