Scott Howard-Cooper has a fascinating new book coming out on Tuesday, “BAM!: John Madden, the NFL Explosion, and the Video Game that Changed Sports”
Every every single weekend he gave it a try (broadcasting) and found he loved it because it allowed him to stay connected to the game. It allowed him to stay connected to the public in the most important way for John Madden. That was he could teach the game. He saw it as a way to talk to fans and help describe not just what the play that just happened, but why it happened and really break it down. And his gift, of course, was that he could talk in about technical terms like how a play developed while still talking to the layman. – Scott Howard-Cooper
