This was not a push-button managing job in Atlanta this year. There were a lot of pieces that didn’t fit in the puzzle, and he made them fit. When you think about all the rotation issues and the rotation uncertainty and how the Braves have made that work and at times had to zigzag and just hide their deficiencies out there, that doesn’t happen if the Manager doesn’t have firm command of the room, of the options, of the way each player on his roster can fit, can be used, can contribute.
