Well, I mean, in 1967, there was a lot of civil unrest and a lot of, you know, we are in a lot of turmoil in our country and everything and nonconformity, everything was, you know, about, you know, Vietnam, the draft, peace and love, you know, black power, you know, civil rights movements and the things that you saw on TV, especially in the South, I prayed that, you know, that I don’t get drafted by the Braves. And then I did get drafted by the Braves.
And like I said, that ended up being the best thing happened to me because I learned a lot about people. I learned a lot that there are good people and bad people everywhere, no matter where you go. I had a bunch of people, you know, take care of me, you know, in the South.
And had it not been for those people taking care of me and feeding me and making me go to church and, you know, just making me do all things my mom and dad had instilled in me. And my dad was from the South, so I really got to get an understanding, you know, about the mentality, you know, of the South and, you know, it helped mold me to be a better person. And I was a lot better when I came back home.
