“Locked on Cavs” Host Danny Cunningham Breaks Down the Hawks on “The Locker Room” to discuss how the Hawks looked on the national stage. Also, our crew got Danny’s thoughts on new Falcons Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and previewed the weekend game ahead for the Guardians and Braves at Truist Park.
Hawks vs. Cavaliers: Playoff Preview Heats Up as Atlanta Hosts Final Home GameThe Atlanta Hawks dropped a tough 122-116 decision to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, but they get an immediate shot at revenge Friday in their final regular-season home game at State Farm Arena.
In a wide-ranging interview on The Locker Room on 680 The Fan, Cleveland insider Danny Cunningham (Locked On Cavs / 92.3 The Fan) broke down the matchup. He praised the Hawks as a “really good team” capable of stretching the floor with hot three-point shooting, but believes the Cavs hold the edge when healthy. Cleveland’s size with Evan Mobley and Jared Allen creates major defensive problems for Atlanta, especially in rebounding and interior scoring.
Cunningham noted the Cavs, now at 51-29 and locked into playoff position, haven’t been fully healthy all season. With key contributors like Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, and Mobley closer to full strength, Cleveland looks dangerous. He projected the Cavs would likely beat the Hawks in a first-round series but would prefer facing the Toronto Raptors for an easier path of least resistance.
Health remains the biggest X-factor for Cleveland after last year’s playoff exit. Cunningham also shared thoughts on former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski now leading the Falcons, the quarterback situation in Cleveland, and why the Guardians are such a frustratingly resilient baseball team.
