Dennis Scott drops in with Cellini & Dimino for some in-depth basketball talk and analysis on the NCAAA Tournament, the red-hot Atlanta Hawks without Trey Young, and why his Alma Matter Georgia Tech is making the right moves by hiring Scott Cross.
So when you look at the roster that Georgia Tech’s had the last three years, when you as a fan, and we’re here in Atlanta, and you have all the sports opportunities, and unless you are a diehard Tech person that graduated on the flats, you don’t want to spend your money to go watch the product. That’s it.
Same thing with the Hawks! I know the Hawks for all those Trey Young fans. There’s nothing that gets Trey Young, but you cannot tell me this isn’t a better product now that Trey’s gone. You can’t! I’m not saying stop being a Trey Young fan, but now as a season ticket holder, you’re like, okay, we got a chance now. The ball’s hopping, unselfish, not one guy’s taking 30 shots a night. I’m buying tickets now. I want to watch this product.
That’s the truth of professional sports. Now it’s turned into the college ranks now.
