680 The Fan – The Braves announced that infielder Ha-Seong Kim underwent surgery in Atlanta to repair a torn tendon in the middle finger of his right hand following an injury sustained last week while in Korea.
MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported that Kim was hurt when he slipped and fell on ice, leading to the procedure. The surgery was performed by Dr. Gary Lourie, and the Braves said the expected recovery time is 4–5 months.
Kim, 30, signed with Atlanta this offseason and was expected to play a key role in the infield. His absence to open the season leaves the club evaluating internal options at the position.
The Braves said further updates on Kim’s progress will be provided during his rehabilitation.
