Tom Luginbill will be appearing in the ACC Network’s coverage of the ACC Championship game between Duke and Virginia, then looks at the predicament the ACC finds itself in with regard to the conference’s finish in the CFP rankings. It’s pretty bad, but Luginbill believes the ACC has nobody to blame for that but themselves!
There is a doomsday scenario for the ACC. If you’re looking, okay, what happens in terms of watching the ACC championship game? Well, if Duke wins this game and both JMU and or it doesn’t matter, Tulane or North Texas win the Sunbelt and the American Conference championship, respectively, you are looking at a scenario without an ACC team in the college football playoffs. That’s a very realistic set of circumstances right there. So I think that provides a little bit of intrigue. If Virginia wins it, it’s exactly what the ACC needs to assure a participant in the college football playoff game, but this is the card they were dealt.
