I guess if you were going to say that any coach in college football was going to be in the circumstance of leaving for a bigger job and leaving a team in the dust as it prepares for the College Football Playoff, Lane would have been that coach. So it’s fascinating to see the way that this is all played out, not necessarily a stunner, but certainly one of those things that feels like a seminal moment right now in this very new era of college football.
