Matt Stinchcomb was on the broadcast of last week’s Ole Miss nail biter against Washington State and has some fresh insight into their game. Today, he shares what he saw in Ole Miss’ game that could frustrate the Bulldogs, and has some ideas of what Kirby Smart and Gunner Stockton can do to stop them!
I actually asked him before the game last week, have you softened a little bit as far as your adherence to analytics and you know, what the numbers say and you go for it on fourth down here ’cause you just do and you know, the difference between getting six or seven points and three points and how much more important that is, all the things and he’s like, “No, no, I’m pretty much the same and I’ve been kind of the same mindset. Doesn’t change. We haven’t changed.”
And I don’t really expect to see a lot of that on Saturday. I expect it to be the same. His message to his team after that game versus Washington State was, “Deal with the program! We’re not going to change the way that we play based on what y’all just did on those four quarters because you didn’t meet the standard of what we’re trying to be here, which is usually a stand on the gas, aggressive, especially when it comes to possessions, kind of a team.”
