Georgia Tech Athletic Director Ryan Alpert joined The Locker Room to talk about the latest down on The Flatts including retaining coaches like Brent Key when they are rumored as candidates to fill other openings, the making of an apparel deal, would the GT Athletic Department start a Haynes King for Heisman campaign and more!
I think whenever you have a coach, whether it’s your football coach, basketball coach, baseball coach, that’s getting reported that people are recruiting them, it means you’re winning and your program’s in a position to compete at the highest level. And yeah, I think it started five or six years ago when President Cabrera came back to Georgia Tech and talked about athletics being a pillar of success and his strategic plan. And I think we’ve invested aggressively over the last few years into the athletic department. And Coach Key and I are aligned. I think we’ve obviously got to continue to invest in the program in multiple different levels. But yeah, I’m absolutely confident we can keep Coach Key and continue to build a championship-level program.
