ATLANTA — The Braves on Tuesday acquired right-handed reliever Tyler Kinley from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for minor league right-hander Austin Smith. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated right-hander Enyel De Los Santos for assignment.
Kinley, 33, has pitched in eight MLB seasons and made 49 appearances for Colorado this year, posting a 5.66 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 47 2/3 innings. The 6-foot-4 right-hander brings experience and late-inning versatility to Atlanta’s bullpen, having totaled 318 career appearances with a 5.08 ERA and 320 strikeouts over 306 1/3 innings.
The MLB trade deadline is July 31 at 6 p.m. EDT.
