ATHENS, Ga. — Jared Curtis was all in on Georgia back in March 2024, entering his junior year of high school. With the commitment of one of the premier quarterbacks in the class of 2026, head coach Kirby Smart looked to have his future at the position secured.
But that plan quickly changed. In October, just eight months after his initial pledge, the Nashville native decommitted from the Bulldogs, reopening his recruitment and casting doubt over Georgia’s quarterback future down the line. Now, Curtis is back on board.
The five-star signal caller announced his commitment to Georgia once again on Monday afternoon, choosing the Bulldogs over Oregon. The decision ends a months-long battle between Smart and his former assistant, Ducks head coach Dan Lanning.
Curtis, the reigning MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year, held offers from top-tier programs including Ohio State, Alabama and South Carolina. His commitment comes on the heels of a March unofficial visit to Athens that appears to have sealed the deal. He had visits scheduled for the summer with both finalists, but those will no longer be necessary.
At 6-foot-3.5, Curtis gives Georgia another blue-chip prospect in its quarterback pipeline. He joins a group that includes Gunner Stockton, former four-star Ryan Puglisi, and 2025 early enrollee Ryan Montgomery.
With Curtis now in the fold, the Bulldogs’ quarterback room appears well-stocked for the years ahead.
