Guz Malzahn to Arkansas? It just doesn’t work…

CHUCK OLIVER
ATLANTA, Ga – There’s one giant reason “It works out for both Auburn AND Gus Malzahn” isn’t anywhere close to true.

If it ends with “Yesterday I was the Auburn coach, today I’m the Arkansas coach,” yeah, that’s not “It worked out for BOTH” that’s not win-win, amigo.

If you can tell me why Gus would walk away from the $27 million guaranteed dollars he is due if he simply remains as coach of what Auburn is to get whatever guaranteed dollars he would to coach what Arkansas is, if you explain that, I’m all ears.

And remember there’s a buyout *from* Gus if he leaves on his own. $7 million. Jimmy would have to get Auburn to void the buyout from Gus, at least partially, and someone (either Gus or the new employer) would have to pay it. Jimmy would then need to get Gus at least as many guaranteed dollars and a yuge buyout from Arkansas. Which is currently paying Bret Bielma AND Chad Morris both to not coach. And the Arkansas powers would then give out a contract to the new guy with a larger buy-out than Bielma and Morris combined?

There’s a lot to hurdle here.
