Atlanta Braves Celebrate Season of Giving with Service Projects, Food Drives, Orchard Planting, Gifts for Children in Foster Care, and a Giving Tuesday Campaign to Support Atlanta Braves Foundation
ATLANTA (November 8, 2023) – Today, the Atlanta Braves began their annual Season of Giving campaign to show appreciation and give back to members of the metro Atlanta community. The Braves will celebrate the holidays by volunteering and supporting those in need throughout November and December. Fans can help support the Season of Giving initiatives and the Atlanta Braves Foundation through the Giving Tuesday campaign starting November 28.
“The Atlanta Braves Season of Giving campaign brings Braves front office staff, team members, corporate partners, and fans together each holiday season to address needs in our communities through a lens of service,” said Atlanta Braves Community Affairs Vice President and Atlanta Braves Foundation Executive Director Danielle Bedasse. “This year, we continue our efforts to address food insecurity and food sovereignty with food distributions and community garden projects; we will celebrate our veterans, support local schools, and bring joy to children in foster care.”
Atlanta Braves in the Community
The Atlanta Braves will host days of service at the Atlanta Braves Foundation’s 2023 Cobb County Hank Aaron All-Star Schools, Lindley Middle School today, November 8, and Betty Gray Middle School on December 7. Volunteers will help meet some of the schools’ more critical needs, such as planting new landscaping, building new picnic tables for outdoor classroom use, building new carts for the food pantry, and assisting teachers in their classrooms. Additionally, the Atlanta Braves Foundation and McDonald’s will host teacher appreciation breakfasts at each of the Hank Aaron All-Star Schools, including Lindley Middle School on November 10, Booker T. Washington High School on November 30, and Betty Gray Middle School on December 7.
On November 16, the Braves Home Plate Project presented by Chick-fil-A will continue to fight food insecurity in Braves Country. The Braves along with Chick-fil-A, Antioch AME Church, Reflections of Trinity, the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Urban Recipe will provide non-perishable items and drinks, 300 frozen protein packages, 400 hot meals, and 10,000 pounds of fresh produce to the Stone Mountain community. This will be the 10th Atlanta Braves Foundation Home Plate Project presented by Chick-fil-A in 2023. More than 64,500 pounds of food have been given away this year.
On November 17, the Braves will host The Warrior Classic presented by Southwire to honor our nation’s heroes. The Atlanta Braves and Southwire have invited military veterans to enjoy an exclusive VIP experience at Truist Park, including a behind-the-scenes ballpark tour, batting practice on the field with Braves alumni players, and a catered luncheon.
The Braves are partnering again with Atlanta Braves catcher Travis D’Arnaud and his wife Britney for the Pitch in for the Planet Volunteer Project presented by Coors Lighton December 1. Volunteers will plant fruit trees at Tapestry Garden, one of 20 community orchards in partnership with Food Well Alliance and Players for the Planet. These neighborhood-based orchards will increase access to fresh, healthy food for urban residents while expanding tree canopy and promoting environmental sustainability.
The Atlanta Braves Foundation together with Truist have partnered with Georgia Kids Belong to help fulfill holiday wish lists for children from Georgia’s foster care system. Additionally, the Braves along with Truist will host the Georgia Kids Belong Holiday Party for the children and their families at Truist Park on December 13, where they will receive the gifts purchased by Braves and Truist employees.
