The annual three-game series will feature Grambling State University and Florida A&M University at Coolray Field
Designed to highlight baseball programs at historically black colleges and universities in the Southeast, the showcase provides an opportunity to expose student-athletes, support staff, and coaches to a Major League setting. The inaugural series took place in March 2021, when Florida A&M swept Grambling State.
“We are excited to welcome back Grambling State and Florida A&M to our third annual HBCU Baseball Classic” said Derek Schiller, Atlanta Braves President and CEO. “In addition to honoring two great men, this series serves as an extension of our ongoing efforts to foster the next generation of diverse baseball players by facilitating the connection between HBCU programs and the major leagues.”
The Braves will honor Ralph Garr and Bill Lucas’s legacy with an on-field presentation Friday, March 3. Throughout the weekend, fans are invited to explore a Baseball Card exhibit featuring current and former Braves greats, take photos with the coveted 2021 World Series Trophy, and enjoy music from local Atlanta DJs.
First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, March 3, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Mach 4 starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online for $10 and suites are available for $500.
