680 THE FAN, ATLANTA – Tim Tebow is a competitor and wants to play football. Urban Meyer, general manager Trent Baalke and the Jacksonville Jaguars want to give him that chance.
This should be the end of the story. But, it isn’t.
We can’t take things with nuance or for a specific instance anymore. We have to immediately share our snarky thoughts on social media or like/share someone else’s.
If you’re going to be upset with anyone in this situation, don’t make it Tim Tebow. Also, if you’re “angry” about this? Get a life…
I can understand if you’re annoyed about Tebow getting a chance to play in the NFL again as a potential tight end. If you feel that way, then direct your annoyance to the Jaguars front office and Meyer.
It’s their football team and they can run it how they see fit. All Tebow has done here is make his desire to play known and the Jags took him up on his wish.
People can talk about Tebow being away from the game since 2012 and you’re right this seems odd to do this. I would ask them, have you seen him play tight end lately? Do you know for a fact that he cannot play the position? Chances are, the answers to those questions is no.
I like many of you have my doubts about Tebow’s viability to play in the NFL. In fact, I made a bet over the air on Tuesday, that I will allow myself to be hoisted up 50 feet in the air at The Battery Atlanta, if Tebow indeed does make the 53 man roster for the team. I am deathly afraid of heights too.
If the Jaguars want to make a mockery of their football team with this move, then let them. Meyer and Baalke are the ones who will have to answer to owner Shad Khan if this significantly backfires.
I also think many of you are looking at this all wrong. Jacksonville is a strong alumni base for Tebow’s beloved Florida Gators. He’s from Jacksonville. Plus, he has a strong following of people who are not Jaguar or Gator fans. They’re Tim Tebow fans.
You cannot tell me that we will not see Tebow’s jersey number released very soon. Then, we’ll likely see Tebow jerseys on sale in the Jags team store and online.
It’s called business, folks. The Jaguars are here to make money and be profitable. That’s what drives NFL franchises. You don’t like it? Don’t spend your money with them.
This isn’t about Tebow being selfish and taking away a space from another player. It’s up to the Jaguars, if they want to allow this to happen.
